Delete most or all of colonial slavery section?

I think this article is too long generally and I think the colonial section should be relocated to the colonial article, leaving at most four paragraphs of summary. (This article is supposed to the United States and that starts 1776 or 1783 or 1789, etc.) Thoughts? jengod (talk) 18:56, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely right, the whole section 1 with 11 (sic) sub-sections is just a duplicate of Slavery in the colonial history of the United States. Four paragraphs seems like a good thing to aim at. Rsk6400 (talk) 19:31, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2025 Resumption of International Slave Trade by the Trump Administration

There is a reasonable argument to be made that the actions taken by the Trump administration to pay El Salvadorian work prisons to take individuals who, in the United States were not convicted of any crime, without due process, would constitute resumption of the international slave trade.

This is substantiated with news sources which explicitly make this claim "By effectively subsidizing and populating a modern penal colony, Trump has reignited the international slave trade. I believe that the possibility of adding section to this article to discuss the apparent modern resurrection of international slave sales by the Trump administration merits a new section to this article. -- Anthony S. Castanza (talk) 21:17, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @A. S. Castanza This article is focused on chattel slavery from 1776 to 1865. This issue sounds like it would be a good match for Human trafficking in the United States or possibly Penal labor in the United States. appreciate your interest in contributing to wikipedia.
