David R. Montgomery, King of Fish: The Thousand-Year Run of Salmon, (Cambridge, Westview, 2003), 114.
Comment: "Bing Crosby advocated for salmon conservation in the North Atlantic against Denmark's overfishing in the early 1970s. The Danish government banned everything Bing Crosby in Denmark, but because he was so popular there, the Danish people protested the government, making them overturn the Bing Crosby law and even to enact salmon conservation legislation."
For someone better at orthography than I, should there be hyphens in the phrases "post World War II" and "broadcast quality", both in paragraph 5 of the lead? -- Pete Best Beatles (talk) 06:29, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pete Best Beatles I am going by instinct here. The WWII may be fine, (you could check other WWII era articles to see how other editors handled this) but I would prefer a hyphen for broadcast-quality. I see a problem with "prerecorded" my mind prefers "pre-recorded", but predictive text showed "prerecorded"....so what do I know!? Check this section MOS:HYPHEN which may provide better assistance. Overall, I suggest you have a read through WP:MOS for persnickety issues. Tribe of TigerLet's Purrfect!20:30, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@2601:447:4000:220:25FE:BEDC:E29D:96A3 If you want to make changes to the section on FBI files and mafia involvement I think it would be best to propose the changes here on the talk page first. Your edits have been unsourced, or attributed to a source that does not verify the claims at all.
Of course, anybody with intent to change the relevant information is welcome to post in this thread. GabberFlasted (talk) 17:35, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@2601:447:4000:220:25FE:BEDC:E29D:96A3 So there was this thing about ABPnews. The New York Post says that ABPnews published the FBI files - it doesn't tell whether it was ABPnews that claimed that the files contained information on Crosby having had mafia connections. Both Macfarlane and Giddins have traced the source of the claims about the mafia connections back to the New York Post as the first newspaper that jumped on this - this is why Giddins's book is now listed as a source right after the statement that says that it was the New York Post that came up with it. Regardless of what newspaper was the first to make the claim - that the claim is a product of pure phantasy is fact and proven to be such by the FBI files which are listed among the sources at the end of the paragraph. As long as the paragraph makes these points clear (and they are supported by all the listed sources), I'm fine with it. Are you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:EB:4F1C:7D00:E4EC:FEC6:34C6:AA40 (talk) 17:54, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
” the over 280 pages of Crosby's FBI files, there is only one reference to organized crime or gambling dens, the content of a some of the many threats that Bing Crosby received throughout his life.” This sentence makes no sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.68.138 (talk) 08:33, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to address an ongoing issue with a user who has been using multiple IPs to edit the Bing Crosby Wikipedia page. This individual was previously banned from the Spanish Wikipedia for inflating Bing Crosby's sales figures and turning the article into a fan page.
He was also banned here while using the name @El Daniel Santiago: but continues to edit using different accounts, as seen in the edit history. link Communicating with him is impossible, and he persistently reverts changes, disregarding proper references and editing standards. He has a specific opinion about Bing Crosby's sales figures, which has already been reverted to one of my edits. In my version, I include both his perspective and mine, incorporating a wide range of sources. Given that the issue of record sales is controversial and there are various conflicting sources, this approach ensures a balanced representation of the information. It is difficult to communicate with him because, in addition to constantly changing IPs and usernames, he refuses to be flexible and accept that there are multiple perspectives on the issue. He only acknowledges his own viewpoint. Markus WikiEditor (talk) 00:16, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You'll need an image of his gravestone to fully prove that, then. I know it sounds weird, but it's Wikipedia policy. No one can really call BS on someone's birth date unless they have a reliable source. Also, gravestones can be wrong sometimes, especially for names... - OpalYosutebito (talk) 04:03, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
